Project : The Lanesborough Garden Room
Client : St Regis Hotels + Resorts
Date : 2007
Purpose : Outside Fine Cigar Room
Location : Hyde Park Corner, London
Development Cost : £TBC
The Lanesborough has been one of the most prestigious hotels in London since its establishment in 1991. The building is located on Hyde Park Corner and was created from the shell of the original St George’s Hospital, designed by the architect William Wilkins and constructed in 1827. It is a grade 2* listed building. In anticipation of the new anti-smoking law introduced on 1st July 2007, Geoffrey Gelardi, Lanesborough MD, commissioned SDA Ltd in May 2007 to design an external garden pavilion. This had to be designed to accommodate and afford high degrees of comfort to the hotel patrons’ smoking habits; particularly those who enjoy The Lanesborough specialty cigars. The SDA Ltd Garden Room is fully compliant with the new law and various environmental health regulations in addition to having been granted planning and listed building consent.
