| 179 was a very high quality, Michelin standard restaurant located on Shaftesbury Avenue on the north west edge of Covent Garden theatre district. SDA Ltd were commissioned in 2003 to re-organise the 100m2 space on basement and ground level. The restaurant opened in the summer 2002 with overall occupancy of 220 table covers. Initially it was a great commercial success not only attracting very positive design and food reviews and also functioning as an event promotion and product launch venue. It was frequented by, among others, Bono, Robert DeNiro and Madonna, but sadly these high profile patrons didnt save it from closure in 2005. |
